Dimitra is a film composer, born in Greece and now based in the Netherlands. She has been working in film for the past few years, having already several credits for her work in short films, both in Greece and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her most recent work includes the film ‘Tomatensoep’, from director \u00d6mer Akg\u00fcn and production company AWARE, funded by QISSA and ‘De Ontmoeting’, which premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2025. In 2024 she composed original music for the film ‘Dans naar Morgen’, by director Nour Alkheder and Buddy Film Productions and EODocs, a short documentary about kids that move to the Netherlands, their struggles and ambitions. The film premiered in CineKids Film Festival in the Netherlands and is travelling the country through festivals. She has also written music for performances and installations with visual media, and has worked with animation artists for interdisciplinary projects. Moreover she is a permanent member of Filmhuis Cavia, where she programs screenings with a social meaning and impact, and a member of Pop-Up Cinema in Tilburg since 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she is working on a film she always finds the message and style of the film, so as to support it with the best musical style possible. She has experimented with many genres (social drama, drama, horror) and many forms of films, such as documentaries, fiction films, animation films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was born and raised in Athens, plays the piano and studied Musicology in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has a master’s degree in Systemic Musicology, a master’s in Composing from Film from the Convservatorium van Amsterdam and a diploma in classical piano performance. Furthermore, she has a diploma for Early Music Composing (Fugue) and has studied classical harmony and counterpoint for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While piano is her first love and instrument, she has also taken lessons in accordion, oboe and violin. She is always interested to learn something new, expand her musical knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
