We live in a capitalistic world, full of cheap, quick and easy solutions. But the truth is, all of our choices and actions have repercussions. And buying fast fashion has many of those: on the planet, on the consumers buying the products, and on the people making the clothes, people who face horrible and insufferable conditions, risking their lives for our short termed pleasure of wearing trendy clothes.
SIRE is committed to creating awareness in order to open our eyes and make us face reality: fast fashion is a dangerous business. We should all shop more morally and responsibly.
This year, SIRE asked from the students of the Netherlands Film Academy to make commercials for that cause. Ten commercials were made; two of those using original score by Dimitra Alexiou, film composer.
‘Weet wat je draagt’ and ‘De Rode Draad’ are the two commercials, featured on Dimitra’s Vimeo Channel (https://vimeo.com/user156373874) that tackle the subject with creativity but rawness.
Think of what you wear, think of the people around you. Be aware, and make the right choice.
